The Co-Curriculum

The Co-Curriculum:
The Co-Curriculum is an intrinsic part of an Iqra Academy education, with its focus on developing skills and attributes beyond the classroom, that help our Students to become well-rounded individuals who can confidently contribute at Iqra Academy and prepare them for life and work in modern Britain.

Transferable skills such as problem-solving, reasoning, critical and creative thinking, communication and teamwork are developed through the different strands of our Co-Curricular Programme. The School’s four core values of Integrity, Quality, Respect and Aspiration are important threads that run through all aspects of School life.
Sports:
Through the weekly Physical Education and Enrichment programme, our students get the chance to try a rich variety of sports, both team and individual. As well as developing skills such as teamwork, strength and flexibility, we aim to help our students discover a sport that they love, enjoy the social aspects of sport and enhance their well-being.
Our Core Sports include; Football, Cricket, Athletics, Cross Country Running and Golf.

Activities and Societies:
An essential part of the weekly timetable, our Students enjoy a wealth of activities to pursue their interests further and try new things. Our societies offer a different dimension to their studies, both to enhance their academic learning and develop their social skills further.

Charity and Community Work:
The idea of service – helping others and giving back to your local community through charity fundraising and volunteering in the community is a fundamental quality that we instal in all our students. From the very start of their Iqra journey, we encourage our students to give thought, give time, give money and share knowledge to improve other peoples lives. This takes on a Global Dimension, through the students work with the Global School Alliance and the Children of Adam Charity.
