Charity and Community Work:
Our School Student Leadership team head up our Community and Volunteering work, which all students participate in. They raised three thousand pounds for the School to become a Soup Kitchen and venue for the Cities Homeless and Needy, in providing them with food and overnight accommodation at the school.
On a Global Dimension, students have raised thousands of pounds for the humanitarian appeal for students in Gaza.
Julie Taylor International Award:
This year’s Student recipient, Noor Khan led the Student Leadership Team who carried our research on ‘Mental Health,’ which they have presented to other schools across the World as members of ‘The Global School Alliance’.
Congratulations to all our students that contributed to the exhibition in the Community
Gallery of the City Museum. Our students along with children living in Gaza contributed Poetry on their thoughts and experiences of life.
It was set up by the Hands Up Project based in Totnes (https://www.handsupproject.org/) who have links with schools in Gaza.
School provides Humanitarian and Protection Assistance to new Refugee Students:
The School has a proud proven track record of taking on and looking after many Refugee students, who then have successfully gone on to University.
The School also works closely with the Peterborough Asylum and Refugee Community Association (PARCA), the H.E.L.P Charity, the Peterborough City Council and the British Red Cross who all provide support with the Students families well-being and employment advice. All the Girls are sponsored through School by the ‘Children of Adam’ Charity based in Peterborough.
Global School Alliance Bronze Award:
Iqra Academy was the recipient of this award for their international work in promoting Global Dimension as a focus in whole school assemblies and newsletters.
